After almost 10 years of overseas teaching in international schools in Doha, Shenzhen and Prague, I have decided to retire from teaching at the age of 59. Of course I could never make this choice without my husband Ben and his steadfast love and employment.

Before leaving Europe and returning back to our home in Seattle, we have decide to rent a campervan for the month of July 2024 and have one last (maybe) big adventure in Europe for my retirement!

Please join me and Ben on my third act of life, as I find a new direction and take things a little slower.

Here are some photos of our last few days in Prague, dining at some of my favorite places, going to the Vltava River for the farmers market, beer and wine festivals and a last kayak on the river with my dear friends Beata and Meltem, whom I will miss, but look forward to visiting with again wherever we may be in the world.

Say hello to Ben and his favorite dessert. This is our favorite restaurant, as it is a short few blocks from my apartment, has good wine and food, great service and outdoor seating.

I am your author, Cynthia. Also enjoying my favorite dessert, chocolate cake and a flat white. This is Friday night, after my last day of teaching. I was sad, but also relieved and ready to slow down the pace of my life.

Our last day of our regular Saturday Farmers Market. This was a band that was there often. I love her voice and his guitar. The produce is popping now and all the fresh dairy, meats and seafood were always the best, straight from the farmers. The prices, farmers and music will be missed.

Too many beers to taste! I like the dark beers as they tend to be more sweet and less hoppy. Ben likes any beer!

I know, we are in a landlocked country, but this ‘farmer’ gets some fresh seafood from Italy and Norway. We often get a bit of Norwegian salmon to cook at home, and it’s the best! This is a grill of fresh seafood they offer with sparkling wine. It makes the best brunch after shopping the market.

A last day on the Vltava River with Beata, Maciek, Meltem and Ben. It was a great day for Kayaking and having drink and food on the beach volleyball boat together. Cheers, and here’s to more adventures wherever we meet again. This will be a cherished day in my memory of Prague.
